What a disgusting place. The ground was marshy, wetting his paws with every step. It had already put him in a foul mood. The tom had spent a good deal of his morning grooming himself and now it had all gone to waste. His paws were wet and filthy. Lips curled back to reveal his teeth as he stepped forward, shaking his forepaw uselessly as he progressed.

He had assumed the ground would grow drier as he progressed, but that clearly was not the case. He had already committed, now though. Turning back would not dry him faster or unsully his body. So he proceeded onward, extremely irritable until he reached the stream. If anything, this infuriated him even more. He would have to turn back or wade down to the edge, searching for a place to cross where he would not be completely soaked. He couldn't immediately see any likely places, either.

What broke his irritation was the scent that wafted over the running water. A border. This piqued his interest. What sort of cats lived here? He had been alone for some time with occasional encounters with others, but the cacophony of scents suggested that quite a group lived here. That offered... potential.

Wind carried a faint yet new, unknown scent towards StormClan territory. Waspfang quickly picked up on this, venturing further out into StormClan territory to find this new scent. It was easy to identify because it wasn't her own (StormClan), FireClan, EmberClan, or one of the other rogues they already knew of. Her senses told her they prepared by the pulsating feeling of blood through her ears and paws. Were they friendly? Aggressive? She was in the middle of heading back to camp when the scent caught her attention. The gray she-cat was diligent as she moved throughout her territory due to the fact that she wasn't sure how close or far the scent was. Little did she know, the scent was just nearby at the Divide.

As she approached closer to the scent, she quickly was able to identify to whom it belonged. A rogue, just as she suspected, entered the general area of which the three clans lived. Her eyes studied the tom as he waded through the mud, screwing up his face into an ugly expression. It was very clear that he wasn't pleased with where he was at, and if that was the case, then she would surely see him out. He wasn't on any clan territory, but he was closer than he was for her own comfort. A mystery cat with mystery intentions. The slender, sturdy felines body hugged close to the ground as she crept forwards, her eyes locked on the cat as she got closer. Then, he turned his gaze in her direction, on StormClan territory. A fire lit deep in her chest, as the feeling of protection washed over her heart. Lifting herself out of the forest's coverage, she allowed her scarred bodice to appear before him. Bold, piercing, yellow eyes struck his.

"If you're so disgusted, you are more than welcome to turn back to where you came from. I suggest you stray far away from these borders." She snipped, her voice unwelcoming and cold. Waspfang held her head high, and her body ready for whatever it was to come.

The tom was met with a stranger's face quite suddenly. Surprise flickered across his face, his eyes widening slightly before he rearranged his face into a smile. His eyes fell half-closed, lidded heavily even as she spit venom in his face. Well... what could one expect from a disgustingly scarred bitch? He kept his eyes on hers, but he could see the scars on her face regardless. A sniff brought the scent of the group whose border he had taken in only a moment ago. Well, well... He allowed his eyes to drift down her form, the smile becoming lazier.

"Terribly sorry, lovely, I'm not quite the fan of mud... but I'm so glad to see another cat!" he replied, letting his voice become dreamy and he stretched, letting his pale tail-flick casually. He turned his eyes over the surrounding land before letting them drift back to her, letting his eyes become less focused and he blinked blearily. "I don't mean to intrude, I'm just a little lost. What did you say your name was?" he continued, lifting a back leg to scratch at his ear, whiskers twitching slightly as he gazed loosely at her.

When his paw struck his ear, he curled his lip again, pulling his paw away and turning his eyes upon it. "I guess I'm just a little out of it," he laughed, twisting his hind leg side to side as if he were curious about the mud. Then he suddenly cast a glance back at her, making his ears perk up as if surprised. "You... didn't tell me your name, did you? I'm sorry, I just got into something before and it smelled soooooo good... I've felt off ever since, I didn't mean to get too close to your territory. I just don't know where I am..." he trailed off, his words starting and stopping periodically as he widened his eyes as he stared at her. He kept his voice lackadaisical, ears twisting slightly to catch a sound behind him as if he were curious, but he could tell already that it was a mere insect. "My name's Dry," he added, plucking a false name out of his own.

Waspfang kept her gaze carefully on him. She watched his body language, his ears, the tone of his voice, everything. With rogues, you never know where they came from or what their true intentions are. From what she could tell, this tomcat looked distracted... or tired. Couldn't seem to focus on anything. Why was it that her name was so important? If anything, he seemed more curious or interested about the mud rather than her presence. Clearly, he had no intentions of fighting- at least not right away. Her eyes narrowed as he asked for her name a second time.

"Waspfang is my name. She spoke clearly with a hint of irritation. Still, she couldn't tell if this whole thing was a show or if he truly was oblivious and happened to wander upon the three clans. Pausing before she continued, she lowered herself onto her haunches and allowed herself to slightly relax.

You are at the Divide, a neutral territory of the three clans around here. Stormclan," She motioned behind her, towards Stormclan territory. "FireClan," then pointed behind him with her nose, "And EmberClan," then pointed in the direction in the middle of the two. Returning her attention back to him, she wondered if he would try to join the clans or if he was another cat just passing through.

It was funny how easy it was to get information out of people who thought they were in a position of power. The tom maintained his lazy demeanor, letting his wide gaze remain on her as she spoke. Before she could finish, however, he detected a mosquito out of the corner of his eye. Keeping in with the charade he was doing his utmost to put on, he twisted around toward it with his forepaws outstretched. His claws would extend, trying to grasp it in his paws.

As much as he loathed to dirty himself, he also wanted to see if he could get anything else out of this exchange. He allowed a silly giggle to escape his maw, stumbling back on his hind paws with his eyes focused on the flying insect as it flitted to and fro. The disgusting mud squelched between his paws, sinking up between his toes. Despite his appearance, he was still listening intently to the she-cat's words as she spoke. His ears would turn backward as his lips wrinkled back in a mock snarl despite his laughter, whiskers twitching with the movement as sharp teeth were exposed. Even as he went through the motions, he was thinking about what she had said. Clans... Surely that meant there were groups of other cats beyond the one she belonged to, which meant that there were most likely many other cats here.

(Roll for success in "hunting" the mosquito.)
