i imagine salmon to be a very to-the-point type of persona, almost to a fault. they highly value logic and practical reasoning and aren't one to sugar coat facts, even if it could be hurtful to the other party. this comes in handy in their position as they won't dance around the truth, they find it a waste of time and energy, you'll know the diagnosis exactly as salmon sees it. but it's hard to befriend them just as much as they have a hard time doing the same with others as salmon can come off as robotic with their candid nature and often curt speech, they don't excel very well in the social department. they speak when spoken to, and hardly anything more. however, what salmon lacks in friendliness they make up for in their analytical skills. they observe and gather the information they need, they don't jump head-first into the unknown but rather are patient and willing to take their time to come to a conclusion that can be backed by knowledge. while they certainly aren't a ray of sunshine, this is not to say they aren't compassionate - they care deeply for their home and their clanmates, just as any good medicine cat would, they just don't know how to /show/ it despite seeming to know anything else. but, if you can crack the steely exterior of salmon, there is warmth and openness that is not often exhibited to anyone but to those who are highly trusted and respected by them - eg snakewhisper. they're not loud, not boisterous by any means, and they don't capture the attention of the room (which suits them just fine) - they're withdrawn, quiet when not stating facts, and humble but proud. they know their place in the world but don't feel the need to announce it and it's not often that they doubt themselves or their talent in healing, even given their limited experience in the role. if it is their destiny to walk the path of a medicine cat, then it's simply what it is. salmon prefers to be in the present and fret not about the past or future, or what is out of their control. they're even-tempered, no matter the circumstances. they know how to keep it cool under pressure and, whether they recognize it or not, do well at extending that sureness and collectedness onto their patients.
